They are highly specialised surgeries performed by highly trained neurosurgeons. They require many advanced equipment like microscope, high speed drills, endoscope, ultrasonic aspirators and others. With advances in technology, the precision of the surgeries have increased and the surgical risks involved have tremendously reduced.

Performing a brain surgeries usually involves creating a hole in the skull (burrhole) or removing a piece of the skull (craniotomy) to access the pathology in the brain.
