Brain surgeries are surgical procedures performed on the brain to correct any abnormalities like bleeding, tumours, fluid collection or aneurysms. They are highly specialised surgeries performed by highly trained neurosurgeons. They require many advanced equipment like microscope, high speed drills, endoscope, ultrasonic aspirators and others. With advances in technology, the precision of the surgeries have increased and the surgical risks involved have tremendously reduced.

Performing a brain surgeries usually involves creating a hole in the skull (burrhole) or removing a piece of the skull (craniotomy) to access the pathology in the brain. There are different types of craniotomies depending on the location of the pathology. Commonly performed surgeries are listed below.
