Spine Pathologies
Anatomy of the spine
The spine is made of 33 individual bones one above the other. This spinal column provides support for the entire body allowing to stand upright. It also helps in bending, and twisting.
Cervical Spondylosis
Spine is made up of bones called vertebrae. Between any two vertebrae there is a fibro-gelatinous substance which is called disc, which helps in the mobility of the spine.
Cervical Disc Prolapse
Cervical disc prolapse is a condition where the inner gelatinous substance (nucleous pulposis) of the disc escapes through a tear in the outer fibrous ring which can cause compression of the spinal cord or the nerve.
Sciatica
Sciatica is a medical condition where here is pressure to the sciatic nerve resulting in symptoms mentioned below. The sciatic nerve is one of the longest nerves in the body,
Lumbar Spondylosis
Spine is made up of bones called vertebrae. Between any two vertebrae there is a fibro-gelatinous substance which is called disc, which helps in the mobility of the spine.
Lumbar Disc Prolapse
Lumbar disc prolapse is a condition where the inner gelatinous substance (nucleous pulposis) of the disc escapes through a tear in the outer fibrous ring which can cause compression of the spinal cord or the nerve.
Lumbar Spondylolisthesis
Lumbar spondylolisthesis is a condition where there is forward or backward slippage of one lumbar vertebra on an adjacent vertebra.
Spinal Fracture – Cervical, Dorsal, Lumbar
Breakage of the vertebrae causing changes in the alignment of the spine along with pinching/ pressure/compression of the spinal cord or the spinal nerves.
Spinal Tumours
Spinal Cord Tumours
The spinal cord extends from the base of your brain till your lower back. There are tumours which can grow within the spinal cord or the spinal nerves.
Spinal Column Tumours
The spinal column or the spine consists of vertebrae from the base of the skull till the tail bone. These tumours can be cancerous (malignant), spreading to other parts of the body or noncancerous (benign).
Spinal Dysraphism
Spinal dysraphism hosts a set of disorders which arise due to non-fusion of spine during the intra uterine development of the spine (congenital)
Spinal Infections
Infections of the spine can destroy the vertebral body, disc and also the nerves leading to spinal instability, neurologic damage including paraplegia, and death if timely treatment is not given.
