Endoscopic transnasal surgery

Endoscopic transnasal surgery is performed through the nose to remove tumours from the pituitary gland and skull base. This is a kind of minimally invasive surgery, where the surgeon works through the nostrils to remove tumour. Pituitary tumours, craniopharyngiomas, sellar meningiomas, chordomas are the common tumours operated using this approach. This surgery is usually performed as a teamwork along with an ENT surgeon. Most of these patients have hormonal abnormalities requiring evaluation by an endocrinologist.

The patient usually experience very minimal pain. He can move about the very next day after the surgery. The patient is typically discharged in two days.
