Surgery for depressed fracture

Typically a depressed skull fracture needs surgical management. Elevation and fixation of the fracture is recommended. The skin flap is elevated and the fracture fragments are identified. The depressed fragment and removed and realigned. The fragment and then fixed with mini titanium plates. A titanium mesh may be used for better aesthetics if the defect is large and the fracture fragments are tiny.
