Dr Goutham Cugati started his career as Consultant Neurosurgeon at VHS ALNS, Chennai. He was taking care of all the department responsibilities to provide holistic care to the patients. He was involved in training the neurosurgical residents in reaching their goals to become futuristic successful neurosurgeons. He has done fellowship in Micro-neurosurgery and has been performing minimally invasive procedures from the very beginning of his career. He has got advanced training in complex spine surgeries and minimally invasive spine surgeries at Cleveland Clinic, USA under the guidance of World renowned, pioneer in Spine Surgeries – Prof. Ed Benzel.
He was later appointed as Assistant Professor in Department of Neurosurgery at JSS Medical College, Mysore, where he got an opportunity to serve the underprivileged. There were many journals articles published, both national and international. He was involved in organising committee, for hosting state conferences along with the Mysore neurological society. He was involved in training the medical and surgical post graduates at the medical college.
In early 2013, he started the Department of Neurosurgery at Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, Mysore. Since then, he has immensely increased the standards of neurosurgical care of patients from Mysore and surroundings. Carrying forward the vision of Dr Devi Shetty renowned Cardiac surgeon and Chairman of Narayana Group of Hospitals, best healthcare at affordable cost was being the mission. With the best in class operation theatre and all essential neurosurgical equipments, advanced neurosurgical procedures were done to all class of patients. Having the highest number of satisfied patients, the Department of Neurosurgery at Narayana Multispecialty Hospital has made a name by itself in Mysore district. In less than a decade, many thousands of patients have been cured of their ailment and living a peaceful and healthy life.
He had performed innumerable spine surgeries along with complex spine surgeries and minimally invasive procedures. Many patients have undergone successful spine surgeries which were once thought to be having bad outcomes. Holistic approach for brain tumour patients under one roof – brain tumour surgery, radiation, chemotherapy is being offered under his guidance. Head injury and traumatic brain injury patients have been offered optimum care right from the Emergency room ill rehabilitation under his guidance.
