Awake brain surgeries
Awake craniotomy is a neurosurgical technique in which the neurosurgeon will remove a brain tumour while the patient is awake. This method of surgery is used when the tumour like glioma, metastasis and other are placed very close to the vital areas of the brain. During the surgery, the neurosurgeon performs cortical mapping to identify vital areas, which are then protected while removing the tumour.
